John Gill Shorter (born April 3rd, 1818-died May 29th, 1872), Confederate Governor of Alabama 1861-1863.
John Gill Shorter, of Barbour County served as Confederate Governor, of Alabama, from 1861-1863. He was born in Monticello, Georgia and died in Eufala, Alabama, in 1872. He was a member of the Democratic Party.
