  1. Guillard gave 2achrs of land to the Springfield Baptist Church on Ashley River Road also along the Ashley Ferry Road (Bees Ferry Dirt Road) Shem Butler owned most of the land Guillard bought down the line. Mrs. Butler forever said this land would be called Springfield in the deed. Till this day the plat of Springfiled is now houseing development called Springfield till this day off highway 61 Ashley River Road. When the house was gone the grounds still stand Henry A.M. Smith per. My question is if it was distructed still springfield Plantation and dwindled away after Mrs Butler died and daughter married and moved and guilard baught. He goes across somewhere else and makes his home and called it Sringfield?????? (of ALL Names Why Springfield) When springfield was the resident of Shem Butler son of Thomas who were the early settlers that lived on that land. We know all the landgraves owned land all over Charleston town back in even Goose Creek etc but why take a plantation land name and use it else where? Does anyone Know??????
